Privacy Policy — Kids Audiobooks

Last updated: 2 September 2026

Kids Audiobooks is a player for audiobooks stored on an Audiobookshelf server that you run yourself. This policy describes exactly what the app does with data. It is short because the app does very little.

We collect nothing

The developer of this app receives no data from you whatsoever. There is no account to create with us, no analytics, no crash reporting, no telemetry, no advertising, and no third-party tracking of any kind. The app contains no advertising SDK and no analytics SDK.

We do not know that you installed the app, we do not know what you listen to, and we have no way to find out.

The app talks only to your own server

The app connects to exactly one place: the Audiobookshelf server address you type in during setup. That server is operated by you, not by us. No server address is built into the app, and the app never contacts any other host.

What travels between the app and your server is what you would expect: your sign-in, the list of books you are allowed to see, cover images, the audio itself, and your listening position so a book resumes where it left off. All of it stays between the tablet and your server.

What is stored on the device

The following is kept on the tablet only, in the app's private storage, and is never transmitted anywhere except to your own server:

The parent PIN is stored only as a salted cryptographic hash, never as the digits you typed. Cloud backup of the app's data is disabled, so none of the above is copied off the device by the operating system.

Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all of it.

Children

This app is designed to be used by children. It collects no personal information from anyone, children included, and therefore transmits none to us or to any third party. There is no chat, no social feature, no user-generated content, no external links, and no advertising.

The content a child can reach is decided entirely by you, through the account and permissions on your own Audiobookshelf server and the parental settings inside the app.

Permissions the app asks for

The app requests no access to contacts, location, camera, microphone, photos, or files outside its own storage.

Changes

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted at this address with an updated date.
